Why You Need an Ultimate Travel Kit for Your Next Trip?

Packing for your next adventure? Our Ultimate Travel Kit Essentials guide ensures you are fully prepared for any situation. Whether you’re trekking through cities or exploring nature, having the right essentials can make your trip stress-free and enjoyable. From hygiene products to tools and emergency items, we’ve got you covered with a budget-friendly kit that’s light, compact, and efficient.

We decided to prepare this kit when we took our first trip as a couple. We found it vital to have some emergency items as a precaution to stay safe and be prepared. Our first trip together was in Portugal. Since neither of us knew the language, and we are quite shy, we wanted to make sure we had all we needed without bringing too much. We realized that many things turned out to be very handy, and actually saved us money. We will include items that we found helpful during our adventures. They are budget friendly, and meet all requirements when travelling with a backpack or small hand-luggage.

25 items and their Use:

  • Tissues

Essential for personal hygiene and quick clean-ups.

  • Wipes

Convenient for refreshing and cleaning on the go.

  • Hand sanitizer

Kills germs when soap and water aren't available.

  • Medication

We usually take paracetamol, probiotics and cough drops.

  • Lenses cleaning wipes

These help clean glasses and device screens.

  • Tweezers

Use them not only for beauty but also to remove splinters.

  • Hair ties/pins

Essential for tying hair, especially in warm countries. Useful for keeping stuff together.

  • Plastic bag

Handy when purchasing something, disposing of trash, and storing dirty clothes at the end of the trip.

  • Women hygiene products

Useful for yourself and others in need.

  • Masks

Although Covid-19 has subsided masks are useful in case you get sick.

  • Band-aids

Necessary for long walks to prevent or heal blisters from shoes.

  • Pen

Handy for signing documents or filling out forms.

  • Sunblock

Important for health and safety, not just in summer.

  • Cotton-buds

Also used to clean wounds when an accident occurs.

  • Sterile swabs

Essential for cleaning and covering wounds after fall.

  • Socks

Useful in several ways while hiking such as emergency water filter and wound dressing.

  • Cash

Important for shops that don’t accept credit cards and ATM’s are far.

  • Torch

Small but powerful torches are crucial for certain adventures.

  • Portable charger

GPS can drain your phone battery quickly.

  • Small scissors/nail clipper:

    Handy for grooming and emergencies.

  • Backpack rain cover

Protects backpack in unpredictable weather. Is very small and light.

  • Body wash/shampoo/conditioner

Check if your accommodation provides these. Usually they do, so we hardly take. Limit to 100ml each up to 10 bottles.

  • Bug bite spray/repellant

    Especially useful in hot temperatures.

  • Deodorant

    Essential for staying fresh.

Where to purchase your kit items?

Even though it’s quite a long list, we like to buy the travel/mini size, to maximize space. This lets us put everything in a small clear plastic pouch to keep everything organized. We find it ideal for the pouch/box to be see-through, as it’s an advantage at the airport. A clear pouch is crucial if asked to take out liquids at security without actually taking each item out. Furthermore, if they inspect your bag, it allows them to check without actually removing all out.

Most of the items, including the pouch were purchased from Temu, with the majority being less than €1 each. We found websites such as Temu and Shein to be very useful for buying items on a budget. Travel essentials usually cost more than normal sized items at common supermarkets. Hence, it is wise to research beforehand, as the majority of the products are of great quality even though cheap. Before buying, make sure you check actual sizes, and any requirements of the airport you are traveling from and to.

In this list we included all the items that are essential for us. However, we suggest you adding or removing any items to make it more personal and convenient for you. Moreover, we like to check what the accommodation will provide for us, as not to take anything extra. This essential travel kit serves as a helpful guide to not forget anything, and to make your travel experience less stressful and more enjoyable!
